ORIGIN

Born Feb. 11, 2000

Raised in a Christian church where he learned to play instruments, operate live-audio equipment, and perform for a crowd.

He lead worship with his guitar, and spent his childhood at the beach, busking with his ukulele at the Pier.

His name came from his friend Tane in high school, who was the first to call him, and the music he played walking around campus: “Waavy”.

He attended SFSU briefly before dropping out in 2018, choosing instead to learn through experience how to write, record and engineer music.

The same way he taught himself how to play instruments, utilizing online videos and the people around him.

In 2019 he created a conscious hip-hop collective with friends from home called “Astral Gang”.

Together they released music, built a home studio, and organized shows and parties all over the California coast.

This led to Waavy’s initial entrepreneurial ventures, that ultimately failed. After parting ways with Astral Gang in 2021, he spent a year and a half isolated in his Oceanside home studio soley focused on his own artistry.

SWANTON FOREVER

He has since moved to LA, and been developing an extensive, unreleased catalog he is finally beginning to drop.

Waavy founded Swanton Studios in North Hollywood, CA in November 2023. Nearly 3 years so far serving Independent & major label Artists and Musicians.

He ran the commercial studio full time for the first year and a half, but has since taken on work outside the studio to preserve his creativity and lessen ear-fatigue.

In the summer of 2024, his late, great friend Alexander James Wright, AKA Axel, joined Swanton as an equal partner.

Axel created the “Pass The Aux” event, which served as the foundation of a community of up-and-coming creatives, hosted at Swanton.

At 20 years old, Axel was already working with Grammy award winners, some of his favorite artists, and industry professionals around the world.

He renewed Waavy’s passion and belief in music, and gave Swanton a new identity rooted in collaboration and community.

Swanton Studios will continue forever in Axel’s honor.
